Who's GaryGary Hoover studied economics under three future Nobel Prize winners at the University of Chicago, picked stocks for a major Wall Street institutional investor, and then worked in financial and strategic planning and marketing for two of the largest US retailers. He began his entrepreneurial journey by founding BOOKSTOP, the first chain of large bookstores. Within seven years of founding, this company was among the industry leaders and stretched from coast to coast; it was acquired by Barnes & Noble, representing their entry into the book superstore business, in 1989. Then Gary and his colleagues founded the business information company that evolved into Hoovers.com, used worldwide; this company went public in 1999 and was purchased by Dun & Bradstreet in 2003. Gary has had other less successful ventures, which were also learning experiences. Today he travels the world speaking and teaching about entrepreneurship and business. In 2009-2010, he was the Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of Texas McCombs School of Business, within the Herb Kelleher Center for Entrepreneurship.
